I know we already let the cat out of the bag about reaching base camp a couple of days ago but here’s the day to day recap just the same!
Day 4: Today was extraordinary. After being covered in clouds the first couple of chances of seeing Everest, we finally caught a glimpse of the beauty. Towering behind the amazing Lhotse (27,900 ft; #4 peak in the world), we pretty much hiked with Everest in view for 4 straight hours. And that’s what’s so awesome about doing a trek like this — I’ve seen lots of big mountains but usually from a car, for just a couple of mins before it slides out of view. But on foot, you can study the peaks, observe it from every angle and let your mind go. The fact that this is the only way to catch the world’s highest mountain makes it all worth the struggle. When we finally reached our destination (Tengboche, 12,696 ft), everyone at the lodge said it was the most difficult day yet. I thought it was the easiest/best day, frolicking through the Shangri-la of the Khumbu region. Current mood: Feeling optimistic about our chances of reaching EBC. #tk2014yolo #intothinair #himalayas #nepal #Everest #everestbasecamp #travel
